I have a 55 gallon tank and this does a very good job removing algae from the glass. I used to use one of the little magnet scrapers which releases the algae into the water rather than trap the algae. This scrapper will trap some of it making it easier to get out of the tank. It's also significantly larger so cleaning takes less time.

This isn't a scraper you're going to want if you've got caked on, thick and/or coraline algae on your tank, but for everyday cleaning it's great and long enough to reach to the bottom of my 24" deep reef tank. I use a scraper for the more serious stuff, but this is a nice tool to use for keeping the glass clear in those areas that have minimal buildup.

Totally worth the price and the leanth is alright, I really cant complain for the price! The material is good and looks like itll last a long time! I gave it 5 stars! This same item but with a different name cost way more at a pet store or department store, save a couple dollars and purchase this one, you wont be disappointed!

I have two aquariums, a 49 gallon tank and a 10 gallon tank. The larger tank tends to accumulate more algae for some reason, and I needed a new algae scraper to replace an older one that was worn out. This scraper is large enough to work well with my bigger aquarium yet it is slender enough for usage with the smaller tank, too. Construction is good, and the price is about the same as similar scrapers at the local pet store. It works well for my purposes.

I love this scraper. After reading all the reviews on the different scrapers, I just decided to take a chance on the API one because I trust this brand. I have used the scrapper and it removed the algae from my tank's glass very easily. The head of the scrapper has no sharp or hard edges to scratch the glass. The head of the scrapper is also large and thick so I think it will last me a long time. The handle is very sturdy, better than the handles on the scrappers I saw at my local Petsmart store. I also like the fact that the handle has a hanger on it so I can keep it handy by my aquarium. When this one wears out, I will replace it with the same brand.

I know alot of people feel this is junk. But i really do not know how i would clean the algae off the of my back aquarium wall, bottom of my tank. Or my white bubbler across the back of my tank without this scraper. This scraper is a life saver for me. Keeps my aquarium looking crystal clean. And i love that the handle is so long, I have a very deep tank. And when i drain water out i can use this without getting wet. And it even works to help me gently move some ornaments back to place in my 37 gallon fancy goldfish aquarium. So happy i did my research and purchased this product and have this in my aquarium maintenance arsenal.

I bought this pad to use on my acrylic saltwater tank It's an easy to use pad that removed algae fairly easily from the acrylic. For stubborn spots, you may need to scrub a bit harder. A few things to keep in mind, while the pad didn't cause scratches in my acrylic, you have to be be careful when you're cleaning near the substrate (sand/gravel/crushed coral) as the pad can get pieces trapped in it and they WILL cause scratches in the acrylic. An easy solution, I run my fingers down between the acrylic and the substrate and create a channel, I can then clean below the substrate line, when finished, I just move the substrate back in place. Takes more time on a larger tank but it will keep your pad from picking up substrate and causing scratches. Dimensions - While Amazon lists the dimensions, they appear to be the size of the cardboard package, not the actual pad. My pad measures 3"X3" and about 1" thick. It works great for my tank, you may want to get a bigger pad for larger tanks. After each use, I rinse it with warm tap water (NO soap or cleaning products) and then let it air dry. Hope this review helps a few hobbyists out there.

I'm really excited to have found a scrub brush with a sturdy handle that is long enough to reach the bottom of my 40 gallon deep. The scrubbing pad itself has held up very well to frequent use, and in combination with a scraper, works well in removing any stubborn algee.

I use this for my large BIOrb acrylic aquarium and it doesn't scratch the acrylic while making maintenance easier. Frequent partial water change (weekly) is necessary to keep down nitrate level buildup to decelerate algae growth. As a tip, my greatest discovery was to add a few inexpensive Algae Eaters from Petsmart (Otocinclus Catfish, around $2) in my tank and they do WONDERS to help keep the aquarium plants and surfaces clear.

I've tried other algae scrapers in the past and most of them had pretty flimsy handles. If I applied too much pressure, the handle would snap. I don't have that worry with this scraper. A very solid and thick handle, I've applied some heavy pressure to it for a few tough spots and it took care of them with ease. I found the key to keeping the algae under control is to clean the glass regularly. If you wait months, it gets so thick and tough, it's very hard to remove. Once you get the glass cleaned well, just maintain it every week or so, makes followup cleanings much easier. It's designed nice, very solid and it's a decent price, what's not to like about it.
